Exploring the Human Form at 1515 Lincoln Gallery

Detail view of Shatter by April Dawes

This July, we’re turning our focus to one of the most enduring and compelling subjects in the history of art: the human figure.

People, People, People is our latest group exhibition at 1515 Lincoln Gallery, and it’s all about the beauty, complexity, and diversity of the human form. Curated by Elizabeth Wylie, this show brings together a broad range of artists and approaches—from bold narrative to quiet introspection, classical technique to contemporary experimentation.

There’s something magical about figurative art. The human form has captivated artists for centuries, serving as both mirror and muse. It chronicles our history, reflects our inner worlds, and helps us make sense of the times we live in. Artists return to the figure again and again because it’s never static—it changes with us.

Some of the works in this exhibition are intimate self-portraits, others are rooted in cultural memory or shaped by deeply personal vision. You’ll see work from artists we proudly represent, as well as pieces from our Found Art Collection. Each work tells a story, and collectively they pay homage to the long, rich lineage of figuration, while also pushing its boundaries.

We’re also thrilled to welcome back Elizabeth Wylie, who curated Found Treasures: Visionaries and Hidden Gems with us earlier this year. Elizabeth brings a unique lens to her curatorial work, shaped by decades of experience in museums, architecture, and sustainability. She holds degrees from Boston University and NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts, and has spent her career weaving together art, place, and purpose. Now semi-retired, she’s diving back into creative collaboration—and we’re so glad to be part of that journey. Don’t miss our recent interview with Elizabeth, published on our blog!

Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, July 24, from 6–8 pm. It’s free and open to the public, and we’d love to see you there!

If you want to dive deeper into the ideas behind the show, don’t miss our Curator’s Talk with Elizabeth Wylie on Saturday, July 26, from 1–2 pm. Seating is limited, so be sure to RSVP at info@1515lg.com or give us a call at 405.593.1063.

People, People, People will be on view through Saturday, August 30, 2025. Visit us and see how artists interpret the human form, past and present.
