BIOGRAPHY
Spencer Cheek is a sculptor currently living in Manhattan, KS. After receiving his BFA at SAIC, he went on to study at the University of Colorado Boulder before receiving his MFA in 2024 from Alfred University in ceramics. Cheek has showed across the country and last summer was a resident at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena, MT.

How are your background and life experiences connected to your art?
I was raised by two art historians so I am a little academic but my mercurial nature has me running from influence to influence.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Spencer Cheek is a sculptor who uses clay as a physical metaphor for the conceptual space of the mind. Building with an ethos of collage, Cheek pulls from pop and art historical imagery to capture a personal internal reaction to the world as solid ceramic mass.
