reflecting on summer

Artwork by Lane Palmisano

As summer approaches and the weather warms, we invite you to join us at the gallery for the final days of "Head in the Clouds: Marc Barker & Josette Simon-Gestin." I am delighted to have hosted both of these talented artists and friends for their two-person show, and especially to have had Josette travel from France to be with us. The exhibition beautifully encapsulates the essence of the upcoming season, showcasing the vibrant colors of Josette's work alongside Marc's fluid and evocative monochromatic cloudscapes. Please visit before the exhibition closes on June 1st, 2024.

Looking for a shaded spot to unwind and enjoy? Explore our new 1515 Bistro, offering a variety of delicious food, specialty coffee drinks, and an extensive selection of wines. 1515 Bistro is a collaborative concept between Michel Buthion of Buthion Fine Foods and myself. The bistro is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm.

May also has me reflecting on my found art collection at the gallery, which features numerous summer water and landscape scenes. I grew up in Virginia and often reflect on childhood walks along sandy beaches absorbing the salt-laden air on a carefree summer day.  In our collection, the impressionist painting, ‘Sanctity,’ by Lane Palmisano evokes such feelings for me. Palmissano is a contemporary landscape artist who studied and worked in Virginia and now lives and works near Hilton Head, South Carolina.

I hope your summer is filled with joy, and that you incorporate art into your daily life. We at 1515 Lincoln Gallery would be delighted to share our passion for art with you. Please stop by and say hello.

Sincerely,

Susan McCalmont
