ARTIST INSIGHTS
How are your background and life experiences connected to your art?
My creativity was encouraged by my parents from an early age, and by my teen years, I was already considering a creative career. I studied graphic design in college while developing a personal studio practice focused on painting and drawing. Today, I continue to explore the many facets of my creative interests.
Who are some of your biggest artistic influences?
I am drawn to the work of artists like Milton Avery, Agnes Martin, Paul Klee, Forrest Bess, Hilma af Klint, and Georgia O'Keeffe, among others.
How have you developed your artist career?
My art career has developed through numerous collaborations with other artists, galleries, and various institutions. Initially, I shared my work in private shows at my home, gradually expanding to collaborations with galleries across the U.S. and abroad. I keep an open mind to new opportunities and pursue what feels right for me at each stage.
What does your artistic work intend to communicate to its audience?
My work is deeply personal, and many of the stories within it remain hidden. The stories that are revealed come from the viewer's experience of looking at and feeling a piece. Each person brings their own experiences to the artwork, creating a shared narrative through this exchange.
Does your work comment on any current social or political issues?
No.
Do you have a particular story that stands out from your career as an artist?
I spent two years teaching art and design in Indonesia, which was a pivotal moment in my art career. Through my travels, I began to see shapes, colors, and textures differently, developing a way of working that I still use today.
What is one thing you would like your audience to know about you?
Creativity has radically transformed my life and provided me with a beautiful gift to share with the world.
Which current art world trends are you following?
I look more to the past at the moment.
Why have you chosen to sell your work in the 1515 Lincoln Gallery?
1515 Lincoln Gallery has fostered a vibrant art community that extends beyond Oklahoma, and I’m delighted to be a part of it.
What do you believe makes 1515 Lincoln Gallery distinct from other galleries?
The variety of artists they represent, combined with its found art collections, creates a unique experience.
