1515 Lincoln Gallery invites you to experience the latest works from George Oswalt in his exhibition Toys, Decoys & Aggregated Myths. The new series, created over two years, is a Proustian inquiry into living in a hybrid world of fiction and questionable realities. George's paintings are derived from personal experience in the gestalt environment of popular culture and use color and imagery to explore our current milieu. George says, "We have compressed time into a million data points, and the new paintings are visual poems depicting beauty, yearning, time, and space.
George Oswalt
Oklahoma native George Oswalt has been pursuing painting full-time since 2006, and art is his compass to navigate and connect with the world. George studied commercial art at the University of Central Oklahoma and then delved into a professional career balanced between making art and sharing his artistic knowledge. He was an adjunct professor while receiving a Master of Art Education and led a museum's art school to promote various art forms. George then taught art in high schools for 20+ years while continuing adjunct work at the University of Central Oklahoma. All the while, he kept a studio and painted during his free time.
George says, "My art is a reaction to the world. It is the way I communicate with the world and the way I understand the world." George's creative process reflects this ethos, which mixes different mediums to create shared maps for navigating the world and connecting with others.
