Geometric Synergy of Art & Architecture and Billion Dollar Meme$

  • 1515 Lincoln Gallery 1515 North Lincoln Boulevard Oklahoma City, OK 73104 United States (map)

1515 Lincoln Gallery invites you to experience the work of Oklahoma-based artists Dragana Milovic and XVALA as they present their shows Geometric Synergy of Art & Architecture and Billion Dollar Meme$.

Geometric Synergy of Art & Architecture

Dragana Milovic's Geometric Synergy of Art & Architecture presents a series of paintings of basic geometric forms freed of self-association. Milovic's fascination with modern architecture gives origin to images that illustrate clarity of shape, the strength of primary geometric structures, and their harmonious interaction.

Milovic first visualizes the complete composition before transferring her vision to the canvas. The creation begins with the flat work surface, which she frees from its two-dimensional properties. The transition to three-dimensional forms allows Milovic to experiment with light and shadow manipulation. Using lines and different colored three-dimensional shapes, she strives to create a work with a clear structure, relational logic, balance, and rhythm. In addition, she often incorporates gold-leaf accents to add a reflective quality to the final composition.

Billion Dollar Meme$

The artist XVALA believes memes make the world go round. He states, "Since the early days of the internet's rise and the internet meme, our world has become a spoof of reality where we're forced into admitting that 'we live in a society' ruled by memes."

XVALA's Billion Dollar Meme$ exhibition places you in the blast zone of 2007, a two-world collision catalyzed by a digital home invasion of memes. What began as simple visual jokes morph into priceless entities. The world in 2007 differed from the landscape we had known before. The eventual rise of the iPhone, YouTube, and the explosion of communities moderated via various social media platforms.

"I want to show how Americana has been subverted by technology, how something we wanted in our homes has come with a 'surprise inside,' a kind of Pandora's Box for the 21st century”, states XVALA.

Billion Dollar Meme$ presents a comprehensive collection of post-Internet art that infuses memes and digital culture. The thought-provoking exhibition raises eyebrows and disrupts the seminal artistic work of Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, George Orwell, and the sci-fi cyberpunk dystopia of Blade Runner and the likes of Twitter's Chief Twit, Elon Musk.
