1515 Lincoln Gallery is pleased to present Shanks Family Tradition, open from September 10 to 26 and curated by Chris Brizzard. This special exhibition celebrates the legacy of renowned realist painter Nelson Shanks through the work of his children, Annalisa and Alexander Shanks, and fellow Studio Incamminati artist Stephen Bush, whose paintings reflect a tradition of craftsmanship, observation, and artistic excellence passed from one generation to the next.

More than a family exhibition, Shanks Family Tradition tells the story of an artistic lineage that stretches over a century. From the academies of Europe to Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, generations of painters have shared a commitment to direct observation, strong drawing, and the expressive use of color. Nelson Shanks carried these principles forward throughout his career and later through Studio Incamminati, where he mentored a new generation of representational artists.

Featuring works connected through both family and mentorship, Shanks Family Tradition invites visitors to experience how artistic knowledge and creative vision continue to evolve while remaining rooted in timeless traditions.
