ABOUT JOSETTE SIMON-GESTIN
Born and educated in Brittany, France, Josette Simon-Gestin studied at the Beaux-Arts in Rennes before relocating to Oklahoma City in 1987, where her artistic career quickly gained international momentum. Early collaborations with the Paseo Intaglio Printers led to solo and group exhibitions across the United States and abroad, with her work appearing in galleries and exhibitions throughout Florida, California, Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Missouri, Japan, and Europe. During her time in Philadelphia, she became actively involved with the Women’s Caucus for Art and Art at the Armory, furthering her engagement with contemporary artistic communities.
Following her return to Europe, Simon-Gestin continued exhibiting extensively in Italy, Austria, France, and Denmark, with notable presentations including the Euroceltic Festival in Lorient and the French Cultural Institute in Copenhagen. Her work has been acquired by both public and private collections, including Hyatt Hotel Hawaii, the Mayo Clinic Minneapolis, Oklahoma State University, and the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. A longtime presence in the Oklahoma City arts community, Simon -Gestin was selected as the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts poster artist in 1992 and has presented solo exhibitions at institutions including the Norick Art Center, Oklahoma City University, Untitled ArtSpace, Nault Fine Art, and 1515 Lincoln Gallery, where she is currently represented in Oklahoma.
